Almost 6 months ago I had bought a portable speaker system called minirig and I have to admit that I did not regret spending my money on it.
It's not that light from what you might want from a portable speaker and its not exactly compact but it is loud and the battery life is great. They claim that the battery life can last up to 50 hours and I will almost agree with them. I personally haven't timed it yet but so far I have only had to charged it up 4 times and I have used it constantly.
They give you a choice of two 3.5mm ports, the top one is for high gain and the bottom one is for low gain (easy to remember). If you plug the 3.5mm audio cable (which will be provided) into the high gain and have the media player on full blast, you will need to prepare your self or loose your hearing for good.
It comes with a fabric carry case with is great for storing it away and keeping the dirt off the speaker. But you wouldn't have to worry to much about the thick aluminium case on the speaker getting dirty or damaged.
It is not to difficult to find somewhere you will be able to charge up the in built battery since you can charge it up though USB. The down side is that it takes about 8 hours to charge from flat to full, so you would have a lot of sitting around whilst it charges up. It wont stop you listerning from it though it, it just means that you would have to wait that little bit longer if you do.
For thoughs worried on where it is made. You don't have to worry because it is made in the UK
