Sexy underwear are not for kids

There has been an article online about Victoria's Secret new skimpy underwear line aimed at young girls. This type of news about parents trying to protect their children especially with cloths that "over sexualising" their kids has been going on for years, and I understand why parents are not happy about sexy clothing for kids.

I have nothing against the new Victoria's Secret skimpy underwear because company insisted the collection was aimed at 'over 17s' and all the fuss is about is that chief finance officer has suggested 15-year-old girls could wear the clothing.

A lot of parents were outraged at this comment by the chief finance officer and they had responded on social networking sites and bloggers saying 'You already do enough to undermine real woman's and young ladies self esteem - now you want further sexualise our daughters [sic].'

Another admitted 'I have shopped regularly at Victoria's Secret for a decade and will no longer be supporting your business,' she wrote. 'It's a shame because I love your product, but I cannot support a company that seeks to sexualize children.'

The problem is that these people have focused on 15-year-old and wear the clothing, and do not realise that when you read the whole sentence, as a sentence and not on the individual words, you will realise that the chief finance officer is not aiming the cloths at teenagers, but suggesting that they could wear it if they wanted.

The key words are "suggested" and "could", not "15-year-old girls".

And don't worry all you women and parents out there that is disgusted with this blogg. I will have a blogg that will back you up. (when you get it right)

Mass Production of Guns

I have found a YouTube documentary (published on 25th March 2013) that talks about how one person try to show how easy it is to make a fully functioning gun piece that would fire real bullets. The documentary dose not explain why he is doing it but you are able to have a good idea what he is up to and why from the small bits of information that you are able to get from the documentary.

The documentary defiantly makes you think how easy things have become and what sort of people that we are living with. This particular person, I believe, just want to make a point by making a gun part.

There isn't much information in the documentary about the 3D printer or the reasons why but dose give the general idea of the ease of making parts, especially for things that should be difficult to get hold of.

Slaping men is still abuse

I have recently read in a news article titled "Women: hitting your man is not cute, it's abuse" and I had to agree with it. (The article I just stabled across whilst I was at work)

In telegraph online they said: "pop culture gives the impression it is cute, or empowering, or even sexy when women hit men. The scene reversed would carry a single connotation of misogyny and out-of-control male aggression, but here we are expected to laugh, or even to be turned on by these characters' resort to the grim shortcut of violence to deal with problems. And young women are clearly taking note. It was revealed this week that one in seven women aged 15-22 in the US admits to hitting their partner, compared to just one in twenty men."

The thing is that there have been many cases in the media where a woman slaps a man or lashes out at a guy by hitting him or kneeing them in the groin. There hasn't been much in the news about any reported cases of this nature but in TV soaps and movie Rom-com's, this sort of thing has happened (worryingly) often.

It is supposed to "empower" the woman. Make the women stronger, and men are supposed to accept it as a consequence of there actions.

This has become a problem because it is still classed as abuse and it goes unreported because it has become accepted by the younger generation. Mostly the 15 to 22 year old. It does not make the problem go away, but increases the chance of a similar incident reoccurring, whether a man is hitting a woman or a woman is smacking him back.

Young women are internalising messages that dominance is the only way to conduct a relationship successfully, in keeping with the individualistic streak that feminism has acquired in recent years, where to be empowered means getting what you want, not working together for what you can both accept from each other.

I have had incidence where I have met women where they seem to think that are the most dominate person in the room, they have to make sure that every one knows it and they abuse their power because of it.

I am not trying to say that women shouldn't feel empowered and more on a level as men, they should. It's just hitting or harming one another is abuse what ever gender you are or who you are harming.

High Demand for Horse Meat

Pubs in London have begun to serve horse meat burgers - and found them to be a huge hit with customers. The Lord Nelson in Southwark introduced the dish a fortnight ago, while The Three Compasses in Hackney began grilling 100% horse meat burgers earlier this week.

One pub said demand is so high that it is selling more than 100 in a week. The scandal of horse being labelled as beef has actually helped increase demand for the meat.

By the looks of things the majority of people have got over the moral barrier on eating horse and is willing to eat them (as long as they are labelled correctly). For many people it was a labelling issue and was conserened where they are coming from.

Caerphilly Castle Ladies FC 43-0 loss

This season Caerphilly Castle Ladies' FC found itself on the wrong end of 36-0, 28-0 and 26-0 scorelines as well as the 43-0 loss.

The team, known as the Castle, found itself in the headlines following its latest defeat, which meant the side had let in 219 goals and scored just one in 10 games.

The senior team's results will be wiped from the records but the club wished the 11 sides remaining in the league luck for the rest of the season. In terms of numbers participating at all levels, Caerphilly Castle rival Cardiff City for the title of biggest women's club in Wales.

They finished mid-table in the last two Welsh Premier League seasons, and in 2010 lifted the Welsh League Cup.

Vimeo On Demand

Vimeo has officially launched its pay-to-view service, Vimeo On Demand, which will allow Vimeo Pro members to sell their creations directly to the public before YouTube has made a decision on there pre-pay pay-to-view service.

YouTube already has a pay-to-view service if you want to rent, buy or view movies and TV shows but they are only for Blockbusters and big hit TV shows that you are able to watch re-runs of or get on DVD's. Vimeo is different and ahead of the YouTube decision pay-to-view service.

What Vimeo has done is that they have allowed the creators set their own prices for their work, choose which countries to make their work available to and customise their Vimeo page design. Vimeo On Demand also enables users to offer their creative content via the Vimeo site, as well as their own websites. But the creators have to keep in mind that when they are setting there price that Vimeo takes 10% to deal with the transaction costs. The creators still keep 90% of the cost.

One of the first films to be offered through the payment system is called "Such a Beautiful Day", starting at $2 (£1.34) for per-viewing rental or $6 (£4.03) for a "sale" which lets a member of the site view it when logged in any number of times.

To be honest, if I am paying $6 (£4.03) for the convenience of watching a film online then I would buy the DVD. This is because the quality of the film that you would be watching would be the same or better, you are less likely to get buffering and your not using bandwidth.

Sci-Fi Weekender

I have just got back from a Sci-Fi weekender (previously known as SFX weekender) and I thought that it was amazing. It is only my second time that I have been and both times I have enjoyed it immensely.

When you hear Sci-Fi, Fantasy and convention in the same sentence you think nerdy men with glasses who lives in a cupboards in front of a computer screen all day and night. And your not wrong. That's if you don't include the good looking women in corsets, the buff men and woman and the popular college/school kids.

Sci-Fi weekender is still fairly young as a convention. This year is there fourth convention, yet there are thousands of people go through the doors every year and they invite huge British stars for the weekend, such as Brian Blessed and Craig Charles. There are also many Sci-Fi comic book artists and fanticy writers. They have many talks and desscusions on different subjects.

It's based along the Welsh coast but they haven't been in the same town twice. This year was in Pwllheli, Gwynedd.

This year was only my second visit to the weekender and I am still amazed by the shear number of people that turn up. Many of them in dressed up in there favourite Sci-Fi/fantasy characters.

Both years over the course if the weekend, every evening hundreds of people were greeted with a burlesque, put on by a company called Area 51. I have been told that they have been there from the very beginning. They also have a team of young men and women who, though out the day, go round in various costumes on stilts.

Often the costumes don't cover much and even when the sun is out and sky is clear it is still slightly chilly. When I asked one of they guys on the stilts if they get cold outside. They jokingly said "There is nothing wrong with the cold, it's the stilts." he said, "but we do prefer it inside where it's a lot warmer."

Another person said that the it was difficult to keep still when up on the stilts. They said "It's not just for balance, it gives our feet slight relief."

It is something that erverybody should go to, even if you are not into science fiction or fantasy or don't like going in fancy dress. It's just a great place to meet friendly people, enjoy the entertainment and have plenty of drink.
